DnD Thu Ep#69(273) Played Mar 07, 2019 (Ches 8, 1490) Knights of Undeath

INTRODUCTION

When last we left the IN REEEALLY DEEP HAMMERS,
they found themselves pondering what it means
to go up against three DEATH KNIGHTS
and two HELL HOUNDS
just as someone in your stealthy party
dropped something jingly on the hard stone floor ...

SCENE 01 - Life vs Undeath

ROUND 01

CLOVER cj (23) []: holding a bow shot  [UNDONE]
REDO - DASH 75' back toward the Lower Anvil Room
GILAM sk (22) []: ice knife  [UNDONE]
REDO - FLY away, 60' back toward the Lower Anvil Room
DK1 (18) [-4-11-14hp]: casts hellfire orb missing only LLYRIN (point) and CLOVER (tail) and doing 70 points of mixed fire and necrotic damage. OUCH!!  [UNDONE]


  • In REACTION to this blast, VERALT casts undo. See UNDO and REDO notes above
  • REDO - DK1's action has been taken, so the effects of the hellfire orb are negated and DK1 gets no redo as he is outside the area of effect of this spell.


DK2 (18) [-4hp]: Attacks ARGUS with 3 long-sword attacks doing 30 points of slashing damage
DK3 (18) [-4hp]: Moves to block the passage and holds at that position (at the north end, facing south) 
FLORA (16) []: DASH South on the ceiling 50'
ARGUS (13) [-30hp]: Attacks DK1, hit's two times for 25 damage
HERBAK (12) []: Moves up next to Argus and channel divinity and turn undead (all three DK's pass their check)
LLYRIN (9) []: "Everyone back to the main room, I have a plan!!"
     Ready action if he moves away - stay within 30'  
HH1 (7) [-4]:  bites Argus's shield
HH2 (7) [-2]:  misses Argus (bad dog!)
VERALT (1) []:  having previously cast UNDO as a reaction AFTER DK1 casts HELLFIRE ORB
>     On his turn, moves up to within 7.5' to from nearest enemy - casts cube of force (PRESSING FACE 5) 

ROUND 02

CLOVER cj (23) []: DASH back in the main room
GILAM sk (22) []: DASH back in the main room
DK1 (18) [-4-11-14]:   holds action, guards opening of the passage at the north end, facing south
DK2 (18) [-4-21]:  3 attacks miss due to cube of force  
DK3 (18) [-4]:  holds action, guards opening, positioned between DK2 and DK1 
FLORA (16) []:   DASH moves back to main room
ARGUS (13) [-30]:  holds movement, knocks on wall of force "This wall of force? bends over and ... um ... "shows off" rudely :)
HERBAK (12) []:  ready action to move with Veralt (Argus is down 30) cure wounds on Argus
LLYRIN (9) []:   "Drops the elephant" (figurine of wondrous power) and commands it to block the North end of the passage way (Sealing the DK's between the elephant and the wall of force, effectively)  LLYRIN posts himself behind the elephant

  • AT this point, the revivitor relic has its effect, and all three DK's burst into green flame (GREEN FLAME!!) and revert back to their original pre-undead forms as un-atoned fallen paladins.

  • Hell Hounds (ALWAYS hungry) attack DK2, 
  • All three DK's are now "simple un-atoned paladins" 
  • DK2 takes 21 fire damage from the HH's breath attack
