PRE-PLAY MAGIC ITEM REVIEW

The Deep Hammers are moving into increasingly treacherous ground, and the DM thought it would be a very good idea to do a quick review of the magic items you have in your group, who's got them, & what they do. A couple of questions arose:

  1. Who has Veralt's magic cross bow?
  2. Who has the Spell Energy Prism?

INTRODUCTION

When last we left our intrepid band of bold adventurers,
The team faced a tricky decision ...
To avoid fighting EIGHT DWARVEN GHOSTS
they need to do something to allow the spirits to pass from this world to the next.
Several wide ranging options exist ...
Which will the Deep Hammers choose?

HAMMER ROOM 2

  • While the rest of the DEEP HAMMERS try to sort out how to  deal with the 8 DWARVEN GHOSTS in the altar room, LLYRIN finds and liberates the the Sacred Hammer, "Second of Three".
  • LLYRIN then resets the chest chains and locks, and rejoins the others in the altar room. Nothing else found in chest 2 at this time.

ALTAR ROOM - DECISIONS

THE OPTIONS

  • Team DEEP HAMMERS considers their options and decides to "Cleanse" the altar, rejoining the heart's of the Dwarves back with their bodies, hoping for the best.
  • HERBAK knows (RELIGION=17) that the hammer is glowing as an indication of the significance of his immanent action. He then brings the hammer down on the altar, cracking it slightly (9 hp damage).
  • HERBAK leads the ceremony to put the dwarf hearts back in their corpses. Upon completion of this ritual, the hammer glows intensely.
  • GILAM ascertains that the altar is to the goddess BERRONAR TRUESILVER.
  • Shortly thereafter, a glowing female Dwarven presence appears above the altar.

INSERT - Berronar Truesilver

(from D&DB, Wikipedia)
The Revered Mother, Berronar Truesilver, goddess of hearth and home, of honesty and faithfulness, and of oaths, loyalty, and honor. (D&DB)
  • Berronar Truesilver (Wikipedia) is the dwarf deity of safety, truth, home, and healing. She shares a realm with Moradin, Erackinor, on the plane of Mount Celestia. She acts as Moradin's consort. She is an intermediate deity that is of the Lawful Good alignment. Berronar appears as a powerful female dwarf with a beard braided into four rows, wearing chain mail and a silver helm.
  • Berronar Truesilver was first detailed in Roger E. Moore's article "The Dwarven Point of View," in Dragon #58 (TSR, 1982) in which she was just called Berronar.[16] In Dragon #92 (December 1984), Gary Gygax indicated this as one of the deities legal for the Greyhawk setting.[17] She also appeared in the original Unearthed Arcana(1985).[18]
  • Berronar Truesilver was first detailed as part of the dwarven pantheon in the Forgotten Realms in Dwarves Deep (1990).[4] She was detailed in the book Monster Mythology (1992), including details about her priesthood.[19] Her role in the cosmology of the Planescape campaign setting was described in On Hallowed Ground (1996).[20] She received a very detailed description for her role in the Forgotten Realms in Demihuman Deities (1998).[7] She is described as one of the good deities that celestials can serve in the supplement Warriors of Heaven(1999).[23] Berronar Truesilver's role in the Forgotten Realms is revisited in Faiths and Pantheons (2002).[10] Her priesthood is detailed for 3rd edition in Complete Divine (2004).[21]

=============================

ANYWAY ... The Goddess appears to be very happy with the party and offers to help you in your mission in appreciation for your great act of respect to her Dwarven subjects.

LEARNINGS FROM THE GODDESS

1)  The ghost's leader (White as Snow) tells the Deep Hammers that THE TELEPORTATION TRIANGLE transport travelers to "the Depth of Depths", the deepest point ever reached by Dwarfs beneath the city (a.k.a., " Hella Deep"), 8,000 and some feet below Mirabar, and no Dwarfs have traveled there from the city for many, many years.
2)  Seriously vile stuff has taken and is taking place there (she is not specific), an abomination against all life. (Gods and Goddesses love to be vague)
3)  What power you need will be made available to you by the power of your allies.
4)  White as Snow tells you that the third hammer is yours if you remove it from the third trapped chest. There are only seven traps.
5)  There is one item you possess, which is not with you, which will be required for you to complete your mission.

HERBAK asks the The Goddess if she can go fetch EPIC ...

6)  I leave it to you to retrieve the artifact you need, but I remind you that your friends is in THIS universe, just on another world.

And the ghosts will stick around in the same area, with a sense of mission, but no longer grumpy with the DEEP HAMMERS. If there is any way the ghosts can assist the DEEP HAMMERS, they will help in any way they can.

THE OPTIONS

The team reviews their choices and decides that EPIC probably has the Revivitor Stone and that they need to go to Cat World via LLYRIN's Chultan Teleportation Stone and get the Revivator back. And maybe some other things?

THIRD HAMMER TIME

  • With help from White as Snow (Slight of Hand = 18), LLYRIN is able to disarm the seven traps and unlock the Sacred Hammer, "Third of Three".
  • Third chest has a false bottom and within you find a small silk pouch. It feels heavy.
  • LLYRIN hands it to GILAM (not yet checked for traps), who opens the pouch. Sniffs it.
    • With an Alchemy check of 18, GILAM realizes he has a bag filled with Dwarven 33 Purplanium coins - each is worth 100 Platinum Pieces.
    • 33pur x 100 = 3,300plat = 33,000 gold pieces ...
    • GILAM drops it into his Bag of Holding

SECOND CHEST RE-CHECK

  • The DEEP HAMMERS re-investigate (FLORA INVESTIGATE = 19) the second chest.
  • It has a false bottom - puzzle activator - inside she finds a long wooden box with stone corners.
  • Opening it, she finds inside a lovely wand
  • Closes the box and takes it (we'll figure out what the wand does later).

LEVEL UP TO 6th

  • All yee Deep Hammers ... Level up to Sixth Level!

NEXT MOVE

The Deep Hammers plan to use LLYRIN's Chultan Teleportation Stone to drop down in Cat World somewhere outside the city walls.
