DnD Tuesday #17(292) played 2019 07 02 - Otto

PRE-NOTES

SPINNING UP BREWER's OTTO TUNE


  • Player: Brewer Slack
  • Character: Otto Tune
  • From: Athkatla
  • Age: 36
  • Left Athkatla: 8 years ago
  • Why: On the run from a tyrant (who may or may not be still chasing him) 

TEAM BACKGROUND

  • The adventure started in the city of CIMBAR
  • NESDALYNN: I've arrested the whole party
    • And has a box of drugs impounded back in town 
  • YESDI: We're chasing a book
  • EMERY: I love books
  • OLOTUI: I'm under arrest (prime suspect in the book theft)
  • Chased a book across the sea and up a shaft
  • WHY are we chasing the book? 
    • YESDI heard that an artifact was important and this book may or may not be it
    • NES is a law-born and must see the book returned
    • EMERY was there when the book was stolen
    • OLOTUI was a squirrel 
  • Crashed the ship, landed on the island, came in through a cave, came up a shaft, fought/explored through several rooms in a dungeon beneath a castle
  • When last we left the team, they'd defeated three ANKHEG (in room 31) ... THEN moved EAST and SOUTH through lengthy corridors to investigate a trapped, locked strong wooden door. After opening it, they enter room 28.

ROOM 28

  • Unlocks trapped door after taking damage from a ICE DART TRAP
  • Once inside, they find an injured TIEFLING chained to the wall (yep, that's Otto Tune).
  • NES heals OTTO for 1 hp, bringing him to consciousness. 
  • OTTO - "I was running and they found me and brought me here"
    • "I've got nothing to hide"
  • NES - "I think we should leave him, let's not break the local laws by freeing him"
  • OTTO - begs to be released
  • A discussion ensues over the legality of killing dungeon monsters and freeing prisoners
  • NES - "Did you have a trial?"
  • OTTO - "I did not"
  • A discussion ensues over whether or not OTTO is trying to bribe NES
  • YESDI points out that the bribe is illegal and encurages NES to arrest OTTO, which he does. 
  • NES "unlocks" the chains without causing MORE damage to OTTO
  • The team investigates the room for 30 minutes while NES interrogates the prisoner
    • INVESTIGATION: 
      • SW corner - 2 secret doors in the WEST wall
        • LEFT DOOR: unlocks a secret door into another 50x30 room (#18 empty)
          • THAT room has 2 doors in the N and E walls
        • RIGHT DOOR: on the other side is a storage compartment containing OTTO's stuff.
