SCENE 01 - Going Up?

Garbage Chute

  • Just above the point where the GHOULS were feasting, the party discovers that the smoke from their cadaver fire is moving up a vertical shaft which is lined with down-pointing 3' long iron spikes that tip out of the way when things fall down the shaft ... like that severed hand, and that torso with a head and EEEEEWW!!
  • The tunnel ahead is a dead end!!
  • >>  OLOTUI says something very clever about the smoke going away upward
  • >>  EMERY is thoroughly grossed out
  • >>  Emery INSIGHTS that the sound of combat and smoke have tipped off the top-side folk and that the party had best be moving along.

Secret Door

  • ROWAS uses detect magic to ascertain that the wall ahead is an illusion
    • Behind the illusion of a terminus to the stone wall excavation is a smooth stone finished wall
    • EMERY'S INVESTIGATE determines the outline of a doorway (no mechanism)
  • YESDI tries to open the door but triggers a 3 needle trap ... oops ... unconscious for 3 rounds
    • OLOTUI pushes on the door, but no joy ... others also try, no joy.
  • INVESTIGATE for lock mechanism (EKUN)
    • Three finger sized holes in a triangular formation on the right side of the doorway
    • EMERY goes back and gets the severed hand that fell from the shaft and uses it to open the 3 hole lock ... SUCCESS
  • Behind the open stone door is a VERY narrow spiral stone stairwell

Spiral Stairs

  • NESDALYNN - stuck in narrow stairwell
    • Olutui pushes - NES still stuck
    • Yesdi pushes also
    • With enough pushing, NES is freed
  • OLOTUI - wild shapes into something narrower - becomes a ferret and wiggles through on the shoulder of NES
  • The rest pass OK

Greased Rope

  • EMERY - misty step up to the next landing
    • Extend down a dry, clean knotted rope
    • All others make their climbs OK

Inverted Slope Wall

  • OLOTUI takes the knotted rope and climbs up to the top with spider climb
    • Some falls occur, but the party makes it to the next landing with only NES and EMERY falling for 5 hp falling bludgeoning damage each.

Spiked Wall

  • OLOTUI does spider climb, but falls half way up for 11hp of slashing damage
  • EKUN (ACROBATICS) makes it with a 23 - secures the rope
  • ROWAS  - slips on his way up - 3 slashing damage
  • YESDI - gets up with a 20
  • EMERY - SLIPS - 3 points of slashing damage
    • misty step - MAKES it up
  • ROWAS slips again - 10 more points of slashing damage (that's gonna sting)
  • OLOTUI makes a handful of goodberries for ROWAS - healed up 8 points of damage
    • ROWAS now back to max
    • OLOTUI eats 2 berries
  • NES, ROWAS, OLO at the bottom
    • ROWAS  with a 19 makes it to the top
    • OLOTUI OK with 3 hp slashing
    • NES - falls for 10 slashing, eats 10 berries
  • NES MAKES IT with the team pulling her to the top with all hands tugging

Swarms of Mechanical Spiders

  • YESDI - misty steps and hold the knotted rope
    • EKUN - stealth check 21 - makes it to level 2.
    • OLOTUI -  also makes it up with a 20
    • EMERY - also makes it up with a 20
    • ROWAS - also makes it with a 21
    • NESDALYNN - is pulled up on knotted ropes by the rest of the party, and while the swarms of mechanical spiders are awakened (stealth check failed), the party manages to keep NES off the walls, suspended/raised by ropes, so no spiders can attack.
PICK UP HERE NEXT TIME ...
