INTRODUCTION
When last we left team Team Death-Dog Catchers,
the party found themselves TRAPPED
(or merely very secure?)
behind a massive steel plate
nestled snugly in a 30' x 30' dimly lit stone room,
taking a much needed long rest.
But unless the team can find a way
to deal with that steel plate thingy,
this particular long rest
might turn out to be quite a bit longer
than the team had hoped for.

ROOM 13 - BREAK OUT
In which the team concludes a long rest and ... and ...SECRET DOOR?
NESDALYNN tries to persuade the steel panel in the SOUTH wall but fails
INVESTIGATION - find signs of a secret door in the WEST wall of the room
EKUN begins coping out the hidden door
NESDALYNN - TRIES whacking the wall with the secret door with a mace -
- Smashes a stucko sort of covering that shatters when someone whacks it, revealing a large demonic face with its mouth open. No actual passage through the face of the demon.
- NESDALYNN (RELIGION check =11) - doesn't recognize the demon face in the wall exposed when the stucko was smashed and crumbled
- YESDI - looks for secret buttons or levers (uses stone cunning skill)
- Looks like there IS some combination of elements of this carving that will open something, but not sure what.
- NESDALYNN - looks for patterns
- INSIGHT =16 no clues, and the room is noteworthy in the lack of clues
- YESDI looks for parts of the door that look more worn than others - (INVESTIGATE =8)
- NES joins in with INVESTIGATE =13
- LEARNINGS - the eyes of the face have been carved with more attention to detail than the rest of the face.
- OLOTUI - looks at the wall across from where the eyes of the face are looking (INV=8)
- Slight marks on the opposite wall roughly across from the eyes
- EKUN - HISTORY = 19:
- Strongly suspects that NES is on the right track with the eyes and that folk who populated this area long ago would have utilized something like this in their secret doors and that putting something into the eyes might work well.
- OLOTUI pops good-berries into the pupils ... the demon face is crying blue tears ...
- YESDI - using slight-of-hand (roll1+3) and with good-berries in the way, things don't go well.
- INSIGHT (11) realizes that we need to poke into the pupils with something mechanical (not fingers or berries)
- Need something about 1/2 cm across (diameter)
- Using a striker from a tinder-box and one spike from a compass to poke the demon in the eyes
- OLOTUI and ROWAS do their best, but ROWAS is a little fumbly and misses his aim
- ROWAS tries again and with a 19, the open mouth of the demon opens into a passage.
- ON the other side of the passage is a stone stairwell heading WEST (go to MAP 2)
UP THE STAIRS!
In which the team probably makes their way up the stairs to the lowest level of the dungeon, having no idea what lies ahead."What do you do? How do you do it?
- 10'WIDE 20' LONG stairwell heading west, with an opening at the top to the left
- EKUN>YESDI>OLOTUI>EMERY>ROW>NES
- Peak left
- 30' SOUTH then turns left
- 60' EAST - split
- LEFT - door
- RIGHT - 50' corridor
- about half way down the corridor, on the left - door
- at the end to the right - door
ROOMs 43, 38, 20, 43, 31
- MARCHING ORDER
- EKUN>YESDI>OLOTUI>EMERY>ROW>NES on point
- Room 43 - find statue of vampire (about half depth)
- Continue around the corner and down the corridor to the south
- Try opening the door to the EAST in the corridor - locked
- EKUN picks the lock and opens the door to ...
- Room 38 -
- IN SW corner of 30'x50' room
- Find shackles and stains of waste and blood and doors and move on down the corridor to the next door
- NESDALYNN tries to kick in the door and succeeds with a 21!!
- Room 20 -
- In the SE corner of a 30'x50'
- SW corner S wall - another door, AND!!
- You discover an Ochre Jelly!!! in the middle of the room
- A BATTLE ENSUES
ROUND 1
- ROWAS - casts firebolt! hits for 1 fire damage [1]
- YESDI - moves forward and fires an arrow for 8 HP piercing damage [9]
- EMERY - moves up for a clear shot and casts ice knife for 5 piercing and 9 points of cold [23]
- NESDALYNN - knowing nothing of its resistances and immunities, casts searing smite and attacks with her longsword, but WHIF, catches nothing but air. :(
- And there was much disappointment
- OLOTUI - moves into the room and enchants some rocks and whips a stone at the OJ!
- Hits with an enchanted for 8 bludgeoning [31]
- Ochre Jelly
- SWings at NESDALYNN with its pseudopod, but misses
- EKUN
- Moves behind the OJ
- Attacks with flurry of blows 22/4, miss, 20/6 bludgeoning damage [41]
- It appears to be weakening
ROUND 2
- ROWAS casts magic missile - 10 damage!! [5]

- Kill Ochre Jelly in Room 20 for 450XP
- Investigate - find remains of 3 slaughtered prisoners and some remains of chain which the Ochre Jelly left behind
- EKUN -
- Room 43 - put blood (from OLOTUI the horse) in the vampire's chalice - secret door opens in N wall, EAST corner
- Opens into Room 31 where
- Room 31 - FIND 3 Ankheg's in Room 31 (450 each)
