DnD Thu Ep#80(306) Played Aug 22, 2019 (Ches 12, 1490) NYEZHITMIR DAY 1

INTRODUCTION
When last we left Team Deep Hammers
They'd passed through Gate 5 of the Teleportation Sphere and 
Arrived on a dark, distant, tempestuous and toxic world
Where scurrying alien undead 
Scampered over a wasted landscape.
Making a bee-line for a 
Distant and unfamiliar crenelated structure,
A blinding burst of orange radiance 
Seemed to whisk the party into utter darkness,
The cold grip of steel about their wrists ...

SCENE 01 - ARRIVAL

(this element is the same in both versions of what can happen today). 

> When the team "awakens", they find themselves in utter darkness.
> The atmosphere is vile-smelling and dank but doesn't seem toxic, and
> Other than the party's own breathing, the only sound to great their ears is that of frequent and random echoing drips

  • Each person in the party sees nothing, despite any dark vision, blind-sight or other normal ability to see in darkness. 
  • Each person in the party can hear the others speak and hear themselves speak
  • Each person in the party is chained, hands and feet, to a wall behind them
  • The wall behind you seems to be cylindrical, not flat, and you are facing outward
  • No spells work
  • You have none of your gear
  • A rasping voice sounds behind you ...

Having arrived on the SCARY undead world, you now find yourselves in an utterly dark, cylindrical (how would you know that shape?) room.

  • On Scary Undead World
    • INSIGHT:
      • Wearing some sort of loose fitting robes, You’re facing outward toward the walls of the room and chained to the wall.
      • Eyes adjust - see nothing, dripping sound
    • VOICE:
      • Sounds like it's coming from everywhere - repeats the passage …
        • Life is a curse
        • Unto death, unto the infernal
        • Die ... arise from your hearse
        • Embrace undeath ... eternal
    • Group is barefoot
    • LLYRIN: tries picking the lock with his claw - FAIL
    • PASSIVE PERC: All become aware of gurgling water (liquid)
  • IN LONGSADDLE
    • The kitchen is big and busy
    • CLOVER steals some implements, but they replace themselves
    • A cupcake is already in his pocket, and it's THE best version of the cupcake EVER tasted
      • The bite you took isn't gone
    • Add +1 to highest ability score
    • Subconsciously looks for the darkest corner, randomly paroosing for opportunities
    • INVESTIGATION 12: Instincts tell him something's here, but haven't found it yet
  • IN THE CYLINDRICAL ROOM OF DARKNESS
    • Luke warm thick liquid poolilng around your feet
    • Thicker than water, warm
    • GILAM was sitting down, now in a rising puddle, tries to break out (panic) - failed break
    • VERALT feels around for a latch ... none
    • ALL d20: 12, 2, 2, 11
      • d10: 4 (LLYRIN)
    • VERALT casts AGE OBJECT - no spell comes off
    • Thick liquid is rising steadily
    • FLORA feels around on the wall, looking for features - smooth stone wall, no seams
      • It's a stone she's never encountered before - alien
    • Sludge is now knee deep and continues to rise
    • GILAM follows the chain back to where it's connected to the wall and tests it with STR (15)
      • It's going to take more than that
    • FLORA notices that the voice that's repeating isn't a "recording" but a repeat
    • LLYRIN (ATHLETICS) 1 - -1 bludgeon (grip slip damage)
    • REPEATING VOICE - pauses
      • Says
      • "Welcome to Nyezhit Mir ... and an eternity of ... UNDEATH ...

  • IN LONGSADDLE
    • PERC 14 - something is hidden here, not sure where
    • INVESTIGATE 14 – 3
    • SMOOSHED pink cupcake - seam in floor matches the smashed cupcake
      • Pokes at the cupcake with kitchen implement - it's hard, NOT a smooshed cupcake
      • INSIGHT 3 - puzzled, wondering, continues poking and prodding
  • IN THE CYLINDRICAL ROOM OF DARKNESS
    • Hear rhythmic sloshing behind you
    • New Voices - "Welcome brehtren, are you ready?"
    • Light eminates from walls
    • Bony hand on GILAM's shoulder
      • "Would you like to go first" -
      • GILAM stands stock still
      • The individual is taller than GILAM
      • Partially vocalizing words GILAM doesn't recognize
      • DEX 12 - fail
      • Rasping vocalizing continues
      • INSIGHT 14
        • Rising goop high enough to allow hands to be extended down into it
    • FLORA (next to GILAM) notices and also drops arms and pulls legs up to push off against wall - tries to push/slide free
    • GILAM doesn't try that
      • GILAM DEX 22 - progress - part of the way slipped free
    • FLORA STR 19  DEX 14
      • FLORA sees a boney creature (creeepiest undead thing) standing behind GILAM with hands on shoulders, 8 fangs (top and bottom jaws)
    • VERALT can you go back to normal form and try to slip your bindings? (Woof, woof!)
    • LLYRIN bites his leg in an attempt to hurt himself MISS
      • LLYRIN tastes the goop - it doesn't taste toxic and it's not blood
      • LLYRIN self-attacks (24) doing 12 points of damage to reduce wolf HP
  • IN LONGSADDLE KITCHEN
    • The "cupcake" is an activation feature - plays with it until figures out that standing on it STR=11 is sufficient to get it to push partly down.
    • STR=3 fails,
    • Third Kitchen Implement in the left pocket = +4 to STR roll (another low roll)
    • INSIGHT 17 - very large, happy looking chev walking past (within 6' of CLOVER)
    • CLOVER trips the chev
      • d20 (19) and the chef falls onto the cupcake and the cupcake activates an opening panel on the nearest wall 24" x 24" - dumb-waiter looking opening
      • Rope inside - list printed inside - places that the dumbwaiter goes
        • 1 - meeting room
        • 2 - ball room
        • 3 - private suite - cranks his way up
  • IN THE CYLINDRICAL ROOM OF DARKNESS
    • LLYRIN attacks self - hit for 12 damage
    • GILAM gets more sludge on his hands 14
    • FLORA attempts to get more information from the creature she sees behind GILAM
      • "Who are you, what are you, what are you trying to do?!" It doesn't respond
    • The undead creature Leans forward over GILAM and BITES (attack=27)
      • Teeth clamp down on his neck, GILAM takes 7 points of piercing damage AND 9 points of necrotic
      • (GILAM still conscious)
      • Feels an unpleasant mild burning spreading from this wound
    • VERALT - DEX ... nope
    • FLORA - DEX ... nope
    • GILAM - DEX ... nope
    • FLORA / VERALT - arcana check 12/22
    • Hears a stone rumbling door-like thingy
      • It's (the rumbling sound) between Veralt and Argus
      • A huge slooshing sound as the fluid empties
    • VERALT becomes aware that the anti-magic field has dropped.
      • "Anybody object to getting out of here immediately?"
    • FLORA notices a DEATH TYRANT moving through the new opening in the wall
    • VERALT casts TIME SLIP
      • DEATH TYRANT just outside the cyllidrical room
    • GILAM Misty Steps into the middle of the room - behind the bity-bity guy - lighting a bonfire beneath him
    • VERALT working to cast TIME SLIP so that EVERYONE goes to the demi-plane of time - several rounds of casting
    • LLYRIN - drop wild shape
    • FLORA - INSIGHT 19 - realize she can whackher head intot he wall taking 1 point of damage and then takes MISTY STEP
    • LLYRIN - do I have my posessions when I return to my shape? Yes, you have your stuff back.
      • TELEPORTATION STONE - uses the item to teleport the group
    • VERALT is working to cast TIME SLIP but still chained to the wall
      • (If this succeeds, it would kill the undead as they can't exist in the demi-plane of time)
      • DEATH TYRANT activates it's mane eye
        • ARCANA CHECK - 15, 6, 9, - AWARE that it is activating a negative energy cone and that you can't regain HP within that cone, and if you die within this cone, you'll become a zombie.
  • IN LONGSADDLE / CUPCAKE LAND
    • Goes up to the top suite and at the top of the lift opens the door
    • Peeks in (stealthy) - 4 elderly humanoids conferring around a big map - sneaking in to listen
  • IN THE CYLINDRICAL ROOM OF DARKNESS
    • LLYRIN - targeting the gate through which they just came
    • VERALT - 2 + every target rounds to cast 
    • Headed back to the place on the planet surface, near the gate, from which the gate can be approached
